Welcome to Koya University's Web Site
Koya University is a young and forward looking University, established in 2003. Koya, an ancient city and cradle of numerous social, religious, scientific and political leaders, was for centuries a focal centre of education and training. With the city's strategic location, economic potential and sophisticated population, Koya has embraced the University as its favourite landmark.
Koya is geographically situated in the centre of Southern (Iraqi) Kurdistan, in almost equidistance from the cities of Erbil, Suleimani, Kerkuk and Ranya. This strategic location has enabled the city to thrive and become one of Kurdistan's most vibrant centres for trade, education and cultural integration.
The University has increasingly focused its efforts to meet its prime objectives, namely, enabling students to realise their academic potentials and promote their personal development. The University has created a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate study programmes as well as an interactive and socially stimulating environment.
Currently, there are 10 colleges with a total of 29 departments within the University. There are approximately 4000 undergraduate and postgraduate students (60% male and 40% female), taught by enthusiastic, dedicated and research-active academics.
