The DENL at KOU Held it's First on-Campus National Students' Workshop

On 22nd of April, 2021, the Department of English Language (DENL), Faculty of Education, Koya University, held the first on-campus national students' workshop in the academic year 2020-2021. The workshop was held under the title: The Representation of Trauma in the Holocaust and post 9/11 Literature.

Professor Salah I. Yahya from the Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Koya University with a research group from University of Larestan and Kermanshah University of Technology published a research article entitled “Determination of biodiesel purity through feature mapping to the multi-dimensional space by the LS-SVM approach” in the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry . The journal is indexed by Web of Science (Clarivate Analystice with IF = 2.731).

A Ph.D. Student from KOU and Studying at the University of Kurdistan, Sanandaj, Iran, Published a Research Article Indexed by WoS

Mr. Karzan Abdul Kareem Omar, a teaching staff at the Department of Chemestry, Faculty of Science and Health, Koya University, who is now pursueng his Ph.D. study at the University of Kurdistan, Sanandaj, Iran, published a research article in the Journal of Molecular Liquids. The journal is indexed by WoS (Clarivate Analytics with IF = 5.065. The paper which is entitled "Can isopiestic method predict the formation of deep eutectic solvents?" has been published on 8 March 2021.

SMED at KOU Helping Koya Community by Launching a Project of “Covid-19 and it's Relation to Diabetes and Hypertension”

On 9th march 2021 a group of Academic staff at the School of Medicines with their students at Koya university started a new project of “Covid-19 and it's relation to diabetes and hypertension.” The aim of the project is to raise awareness about diabetes, hypertension and the risks that related to Covid-19. The project give the people of Koya city a free of charge medical tests and basic checkup. The medical tests include; blood sugar test, blood pressure test, blood group test and BMI. The project on phase #1 targeted 350 people. A database for the people of phase #1 was collected for the research purpose.

Professor Salah I. Yahya from the Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Koya University with a research group from Duy Tan University, Vietnam published a research article entitled “A Low-loss Four-Channel Microstrip Diplexer for Wideband Multi-Service Wireless Applications” in the AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications.

Salah I. Yahya is a Professor at the Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of engineering, Koya University. He is the Director of Quality Assurance and Curriculum Development. He has a Ph.D. in MW and Communication Engineering. Prof. Yahya has more than 55 published scientific papers, most in journals indexed by Clarivate Analytics. Prof. Yahya is a Senior Member of IEEE. PADC and DCHM held a Poster Presentation Competition Event

In the effort to increase the interest and promote research, on Thursday, the 3rd of March 2021, the pedagogy and academic development center (PADC) in collaboration with the chemistry department at Koya University (DCHM) have organized a day event for a poster presentation competition. The event was opened by prof. Dr. Wali Hamad, the president of Koya University, Dr. Haider Lashkry, the vice president for scientific & post graduate affairs, and Dr. Taha J. Omer, the dean of the faculty of science and health (FSCH).

UNIDO has issued a video for one of KOU trainees: Ms. Shawin Dlawar Sadraldin is an Alumni of Koya University, Department of Physical Education for the Academic Year 2017-2018. Like most of her classmates and graduates, she was finding herself in a situation where the Kurdistan Region was hit by the deep economic crisis and the Kurdistan Regional Government was not capable of employing university graduates anymore.

Trained at Koya University, New Graduates from the Entrepreneurship Development Program

Sixty unemployed Host Community, Syrian Refugees and IDP (age: 18-35) in Koya District have been trained at Koya University and graduated from the Entrepreneurship Development Program. Headway is a UNDP/UN-Habitat joint action programme, intervening in countries affected by the impact of the Syria crisis (Lebanon and Iraq) and funded by the “EU Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syrian crisis, the EU MADAD Fund”. Rwanga Foundation in consortium with Erbil Governorate will implement it under the umbrella of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
