Koya University As the first university in Kurdistan Listed in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for 2024 on the 13th UN SDG: Climate Action
In the most recent Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for 2024 on the 13th UN Sustainable Development Goal: Climate Action, Koya University rated first among Kurdistan Regional Government universities, tenth among Iraqi public and private colleges, and 475th internationally.
The Times selected 924 universities from 103 countries/regions based on their contributions to UN SDG 13: Climate Action. According to the Times, these universities are acknowledged for their efforts to address climate-related hazards, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve resilience through strong research and effective campus policies. By incorporating climate change mitigation into their work and programs, these universities not only encourage risk reduction, but also help shape national and international climate resilience policies.
