The Department of Education and Psychology at the College of Education, Koya University, in collaboration with Salahaddin, Sulaymaniyah, and Raparin Universities, organized a workshop titled "Effectiveness of Psychological and Social Counseling in the Present and Future."

On Tuesday, October 5, 2024, with the presence of the Assistant President of Koya University for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, Dr. Hishyar Zaki, the Assistant President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Asst. Prof. Yadkar Abdullah Ali, and the Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Safin Jalal, the workshop was hosted by the Department of Education and Psychology at Koya University, in cooperation with Salahaddin, Sulaymaniyah, and Raparin Universities.

The workshop commenced with an opening speech by the Head of the Education and Psychology Department, Asst. Prof. Bahat Abdulrazak.
The first-panel session followed and covered the following topics:

• "Personal and Psychological Traits for Counseling Tasks" presented by Dr. Maha Hassan Bakr from Salahaddin University.
• "The Role of Psychological Counseling in Social Orientations within Society" presented by Asst. Prof. Shivan Ismail Hamed from Salahaddin University.
• "Educational Counseling in Learning Institutions" was presented by Dr. Omar Hama Ahmed from Sulaymaniyah University.
• "The Role of School Psychologists in Autism Treatment" presented by Dr. Hajer Taha Mohammed from Koya University.

The first session was chaired by Asst. Prof. Bahat Abdulrazak.

The second-panel session was chaired by Asst. Prof. Saber Razaq featured the following topics:

• "Challenges in Psychological and Social Counseling in Schools" presented by Asst. Prof. Hajar Qadir from Raparin University.
• "The Importance of Educational Counseling in the Present and Future" presented by Asst. Prof. Sherwan Sharif Aziz from Raparin University.
• "The Effectiveness of Behavioral-Psychological Therapy in Schools" presented by Lecturer Bakhan Bakhtiyar.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to the presenters.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
