Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Sidiq, the President of Koya University, inaugurated several projects, including the construction of four study halls, the renovation of the heating and cooling systems, and the preparation of facilities at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Koya University.
On Wednesday, December 20, 2024, according to the Gregorian calendar, Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Sidiq, along with the university's administrative and financial affairs managers Dr. Yadgar Abdullah Ali, the academic and higher education affairs manager Dr. Hishyar Zaki, the project manager Engineer Anwar, and the health and safety manager M.Y. Dunia Ibrahim, visited the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences to oversee the ongoing projects and preparations of the study halls. They were warmly welcomed by the members of the faculty council.
The visit of the university president aimed to push forward several initiatives and improvement efforts, including the establishment of four study halls for students in the faculty, under the supervision of engineering project managers. Efforts were also made to enhance and upgrade the heating and cooling systems within the building.
During his visit, the president also instructed the improvement of the central heating and cooling systems in the sports activity hall, which had previously faced delays. He emphasized that the work is now complete and ready for use.
Later, the president and his team visited the faculty's facilities again, where they worked with health and safety management teams to finalize preparations and ensure a comfortable and suitable environment for students to engage in practical activities at Koya University.
Koya University, within the framework of its strategic plan, focused on "Serving the Community," continues to enhance its academic and sports services to provide better support for students and the local community. These actions align with the university's sustainable goals for educational development and community service.

Koya University (KOU) is located in the city of Koya (Koy Sanjaq) which is 1.0 hr drive to the East of the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil (Arbil, Hewlér) in Kurdistan Region of F.R. Iraq. Also, there are two research centers; Genome Center and Malai Gawra Center. Moreover, at KOU there is an English Language Center (BELC) at KOU has been opened with the sponsorship of IREX and American embassy in Baghdad as well as with the support of Spring International Language Center of The University of Arkansas. KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.
KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).
Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
