A Workshop on the Anfal Campaign Against the Kurds Held at Koya University
A workshop titled “The Anfal Campaign Against the Kurds in General and the Anfal of Koya in Particular” was held at the Faculty of Education at Koya University.
On Sunday, May 4, 2025, with the attendance of lecturers and students of Koya University, the Department of History at the Faculty of Education organized a workshop under the title “The Anfal Campaign Against the Kurds in General and the Anfal of Koya in Particular.”
This workshop was organized in alignment with the strategic plan and the core pillar of “Research and Innovation,” aiming to position the university as an academic and research center that revisits significant and sensitive topics in Kurdish history from a historical perspective and academic approach — in this case, the Anfal campaign in Southern Kurdistan.
The main panel of the workshop was chaired by Dr. Kewan Jabar Abdulla, and the following topics were presented:
- “The Anfal of Koya” was presented by Prof. Dr. Hoshmand Ali Mahmoud.
- “The Anfal of Koya Between Revision and Archiving” was presented by Asst.Lect.Kawa Tayeb Jalal.
- “The Work and Project of the Martyrs of Koya for the Welfare of Anfal Survivors Over the Past Year” was presented by Tavga Hama Saleh Ahmad, Director of the Martyrs and Anfal Survivors of Koya.
The question-and-answer session, along with participant comments, enriched the discussion.
