Koya University Holds Workshop on "The World of Artificial Intelligence in Education"

As part of its strategic plan to serve the community, the Department of Education and Psychology at the Faculty of Education, Koya University, organized a specialized workshop titled "The World of Artificial Intelligence in Education."

The workshop was held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, with high-level academic and administrative attendance. This included Prof. Dr. Hoshiar Zaki, V.P. for Scientific and Postgraduate Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Safin Jalal, Dean of the Faculty of Education. Mss. Shaheen Osman, Director of the Koya Education Directorate, along with assistant deans, professors, and students, also participated.

The event aimed to discuss the various dimensions and implications of artificial intelligence (AI) as a modern societal reality from a comprehensive educational perspective.

The workshop was divided into two panels, where several topics related to the main theme were discussed. Scientific papers were presented by: Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulbasit Kamil, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jwan Bahauddin, Dr. Hazha Taha Mohammed, Lect. Shireen Saeed Karim, and Asst. Lect.  Basida Haider. The presenters also answered questions and comments from the audience.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation to the presenters, in appreciation of their efforts to enrich the discussion on the future of AI in the education sector.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
