Malay Gawra Research Center at KOU, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Combating Violence against Women and Families, which is affiliated with the Interior Ministry of the Kurdistan Regional Government held a joint symposium.
On Thursday, December 1, 2022, in the presence of government officials, party officials, representatives of organizations, university lecturers and students, in the hall of Dr. Nazim, Faculty of Engineering A joint symposium was held between Malay Gawra Research Center of Koya University and General Directorate for Combating Violence against Women and Family under the title: “Violence against women and family between causes and treatment”.
First, the director of the Malay Gawra Research Center, Prof. Dr. Hshyar Zaki, gave a speech welcoming the guests and starting the symposium, and was pleased to conduct activity of the Malay Gawra Research Center.
Later, The President of Koya University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hasib Siddiq, conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to the participants.
The university president noted the importance of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women and families, saying that the campaign has been conducted annually for 30 years.
In another section of the symposium, Director of the General Directorate of Combating Violence against Women and Families, Ms. Fenk Shafiq, delivered a speech.
The symposium continued its work in three different panels with the participation of researchers and activists in the field of women's organization, which included various topics in the field of violence against women and families, ways of confrontation and related laws in this field.
At the end of the symposium, certificates of participation and shields of the symposium were distributed to the directors and organizing committees of the symposium.
