The second symposium on "Engineering Research" was held by the Koya University, Faculty of Engineering.
The Scientific Research Center of the Faculty of Engineering conducted a second national symposium on Monday, March 6, 2023, in the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Galawezh Bakr Bapir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Koya University, and a considerable number of teachers.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Rahel Khalid, the Head of the Research Center of the Faculty of Engineering, delivered a speech to begin the symposium.
He said that the Faculty of Engineering's Research Center organizes its own symposium each year in March and that, among the approximately 70 research projects it conducted this year, nine were chosen to be published in highly recognized journals. Participants will have the option to assist researchers in this manner.
The symposium's purpose is to provide a platform for the research of the Faculty of Engineering and, through this exchange of research with staff members generally and teaching staff specifically, to motivate researchers to conduct high-quality, multifaceted research.
Two panels on various engineering issues were featured at the symposium.
First panel:
- Prof. Dr. Salah Ismahil, presented the paper “Designing High performance Microstrip Quad band Bandpass Filters (for Multi-Service Communication Systems): A novel Method Based on Artificial Neural Networks."
- Asst. Lecturer Safar Maghdid, presented the paper “A Comprehensive Review of indoor/Outdoor Localization Solutions in Iot era: Research Challenges and future perspective "
- Dr. Mariwan Muhammad Salih, presented the paper “Effect of type, Amount and Configuration of reinforcement in HSC Box-girders Reinforced with BFRP Bars and Steel Stirrups Under Torsion-shear-bending.”
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Faris, presented the paper “Effect of Alum Sludge on Concrete Strength and two-way Shear Capacity of flat Slabs.”
Second panel:
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Taghrid Khalifa Muhammad Ali, presented the paper “The Behavior of Sustainable Self-Compacting Concrete Reinforced with Low-density Waste Polyethylene Fiber.”
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulbasit Kamil, presented the paper “Face Identification Using Conditional Generative Adversarial Network.”
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Chro Ali Hama Raza, presented the paper “Adapting Outdoor Space for post COVID-19.”
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Shaima Fadhil, presented the paper “Regenerative Design Method and Its Relation with Vernacular Architecture, Kurdish Vernacular Architecture as a Case Study.”
The researchers were awarded certificates at the symposium's conclusion.
Engineering Faculty Research Center
In February 2011 at Koya University, the Faculty of Engineering's Research Center was founded. This center's mission was to aid the faculty, staff, and students of the engineering faculty in the development of scientific endeavors.
