Students in the Department of English Language (DENL) and the Faculty of Education, as well as students from other departments, are involved in a project that aims to develop technology for Kurdish Central sub-dialects.

The research at Koya University was led by Daban Q. Jaff, an Assistant Lecturer in DENL and currently a PhD student at Erfurt University in Germany. In this stage, 34 students across Koya University were required and trained to create the data resources for the project. The technological aspects of the project were led by Dr. Sina Ahmadi at George Mason University in the United States, currently a faculty member at Zurich University in Switzerland.

Both Daban Q. Jaff and Dr. Sina Ahmadi wish to thank all students across departments at Koya University and highly appreciate their initiative and dedication towards developing different technologies for the Kurdish language. The paper and the data of the project are currently available on scholarly platforms, and the project is scheduled to be presented at the LERC-COLING conference at Turin University in Italy in May.
