Department of English Language at Koya University's Faculty of Education held a workshop

At Koya University's Faculty of Education, the Department of English Language held a workshop titled "Towards Humanizing Teaching English Language and Literature".

The English Language Department of the Faculty of Education hosted a workshop titled "Towards Humanizing Teaching English Language and Literature" on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

There were two panels in the workshop, and the following topics were covered in the first panel:

-"Humanizing Teachers" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Payman Zorab Azeez.

-"Humanizing the class of Literature" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdulazeez Mohammed.

-"Humanizing Technical Communication with Metaphor" was presented by Asst. Lect. Sara Jamal Mohammed.

-"An Introduction to Humanism in the Foreign Language Classroom" was presented by Lect. Burhan Salih Sulaiman.

The second panel of the workshop presented the following topics:

-"Incorporating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into English Language Instruction: Building a Supportive Learning Environment" was presented by Lect. Ibrahim Abdulrahman Ahmed.

-"Psychological Factors Affecting Second Language Acquisition" was presented by Lect. Aveen Tahir Sabir.

-"Brain-Based Learning" was presented by Lect. Hawkar Omar Ali.

-"Beyond Language Proficiency: Developing Critical Thinking Skills in EFL Students" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Bakhtiar Omar Fatah.

Certificates of participation were provided to the presenters and attendees were given the chance to ask questions and share comments at the conclusion of the panels.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
