Koya University Gradually Transitioning to a Greener Campus

In the 20 years of the university's existence, the Strategic Plan, which was announced in September of this year, is an important endeavour.

One of the primary objectives and pillars of Koya University’s Strategic Plan, which expands the university's green space and produces flowers and trees cultivated in nurseries and within the campus itself, is to create an environmentally friendly and green university.

The Koya University Gardens Directorate, which manages campus parks and gardens and other green spaces around campus, has made significant efforts to meet the requirements needed to turn the university into a green one. A significant portion of this Directorate 's work and activities were funded by Koya University. As a recent development, the Directorate constructed five plant nurseries for the cultivation of flowers and seedlings, which are self-sufficient and contain over 20,000 pots and vases.

In an interview which was conducted by Koya University’s Directorate of Media, Mr. Pashtiwan Mohammed Taha, the Director of Koya University Gardens Directorate, stated that the project encompasses about 1000 square meters, with flowers and trees grown on the property to enhance the university's appearance.

Koya University's nurseries have implemented the newest and most cutting-edge agricultural practices, from using special lighting to eliminating the use of pesticides in favour of alternative environmentally friendly approaches.
