The workshop "Global Geopolitical Changes and their Impact on Security and Political Situation in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region" was organized by the geography department of Koya University's faculty of education.
Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Safin Jalal, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Assistant Deans of the Faculty of Education, instructors, and students in the Department of Geography at Koya University's Faculty of Education held a workshop on "Global Geopolitical Changes and their Impact on Security and Political Situation in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region".
The main panel of the workshop was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Dler Azeez and the topics presented were as follows:
-"Global and Regional Changes and the Position of the Kurdistan Region" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sherko Kirmanj.
- "Global Geopolitical Changes and Their Impact on Security and Political Conditions in the Middle East, Counter-Crime and Terrorism" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Zina Kamal Khurshid.
- "Evolving Middle Eastern Conflicts Affect the Security of Internet Lines in the Kurdistan Region and Alternatives" by Dr. Ganjo Khusro Mohammed and Asst. Lect. Obaidullah Hatam Yousif was presented.
- "War between Russia and Ukraine and its consequences on the world and the Middle East" was presented by Asst. Lect. Awara Ali Mohammed.
- "Kurdistan Security: The Intersection of Global Combat Drone Development and Geopolitical Dynamics" was presented by Asst. Lect. Soran Omar Rasheed and Asst. Lect. Rawand Fwad Khidhir.
The workshop was enhanced by the participants' questions and comments, and the speakers received certificates of participation at the conclusion of the workshop.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.
KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).
Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
