President of Koya University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, received Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq, President of Southern Technical University, and his entourage.
On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, President of Koya University, received Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq, President of Southern Technical University and his delegation to Koya University at the Presidency of Koya University, also the meeting was attended by Vice Presidents, members of Koya University Council, and Manager of Koya University Media.
At the very beginning of the meeting, the President of Koya University addressed the guests about the history of Koya University's foundation by the late President Mam Jalal Talabani, followed by an explanation of Koya University's academic structure and several faculties to the guests.
Koya University's President stated that the university has established a five-year strategic plan that outlines a roadmap for scientific, academic, research, communications, resource development, and the transformation of the university into a green university.
Koya University President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, mentioned the standing of Koya University journals, particularly Aro Journal, which was the first journal in Iraq to achieve an impact factor of 1.2, and presented Koya University's steps to improve in national and international rankings.
Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq, President of Southern Technical University, expressed his gratitude for Koya University's warm welcome and stated that they are prepared to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Koya University to conduct joint conferences and workshops, as well as host students and academic staff from Koya University and Southern Polytechnic.
Dr. Maher Talib, Director of Southern Technical University's Continuing Education Center, also gave a presentation during the meeting.
During the visit, the President of Koya University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, accompanied the President of Southern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq, and visited the laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering and the Directorate of Research and Development Centers, where instructors and supervisors provided details and information.

Koya University (KOU) is located in the city of Koya (Koy Sanjaq) which is 1.0 hr drive to the East of the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil (Arbil, Hewlér) in Kurdistan Region of F.R. Iraq. Moreover, at KOU there is an English Language Center (BELC) at KOU has been opened with the sponsorship of IREX and American embassy in Baghdad as well as with the support of Spring International Language Center of The University of Arkansas. KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.
KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).
Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
