Workshop on "Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder and their Families" Held at Koya University
The Department of Education and Psychology at the Faculty of Education, Koya University, organized a workshop titled "Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder and their Families."
On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, with the attendance of Asst. Prof. Dr. Hoshyar Zaki, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yadgar Abdullah, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Safin Jalal, Dean of the College of Education, along with faculty members and students, the workshop was conducted by the Department of Education and Psychology.
The workshop began with the national anthem "Ey Reqîb" and a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs of Kurdistan.
Following this, the Head of the Department of Education and Psychology, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bahat Abdulrazzaq, delivered an opening speech, after which the first session commenced.
Moderated by M. Hazim Ali, the first session covered the following topics have been presented: "The History and Causes of Autism" presented by Prof. Dr. Jabar Ahmad, "Symptoms of Autism" presented by Dr. Dalia Hashim, and "Diagnostic Methods and Training Programs" presented by Dr. Haja.
Moderated by M. Gulala Salam, the second session covered the following topics have been presented: "Psychological and Social Impacts on Families of Autistic Children" presented by M. Basida Haide, and "Efforts to Treat Autism Spectrum Disorder in Children" presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ismail.
The sessions concluded with an open Q&A session for participants, which significantly enriched the workshop. The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to the presenters and session moderators.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.
KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).
Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
