The Department of Accounting at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Koya University organized a workshop titled "Sustainable Development from the Perspective of Accounting and Analysis" on the occasion of International Accounting Day.

On Sunday, October 10, 2024, with the participation of the President of Koya University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Assist. Prof. Dr. Yadgar Abdullah Ali, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ilham Majid Qadir, members of the university council, faculty members, and students, of the Department of Accounting, in collaboration with the Higher Institute of Legal Accountants, held the workshop on "Sustainable Development from the Perspective of Accounting and Analysis."

The workshop aimed to evaluate the topic of "Sustainable Development" as a contemporary and critical issue, emphasizing global efforts by the United Nations and various organizations to implement sustainable development goals.

The workshop began with a moment of silence to honor the martyrs of Kurdistan, followed by an opening speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ilham Majid Qadir. Subsequently, a presentation was given by the Head of the Department of Accounting, M. Mohammed Ahmed Khidr.

The workshop consisted of two panels, where the following topics were discussed:

Panel 1:

• M. Azad Marouf Abdullah from the Higher Institute of Legal Accountants: "How to Become a Chartered Accountant."
• Prof. Sirwan Karim Isa from the Higher Institute of Legal Accountants: "The International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS S1)."
• Prof. Basma Jejan from Koya University: "The International Standard for Sustainability Assurance (ISSA 5000)."
  The panel was moderated by M. Blaysa Nawzad Kakresh.

Panel 2:

• Prof. Wrya Burhan Ahmed from the Higher Institute of Legal Accountants: "The Conceptual Framework of Sustainability Accounting."
• Prof. Vian Suleiman: "Challenges Facing Sustainability Accounting in Its Promotion."
• Dr. Firas Nordin Mardan from Koya University: "The Importance of Financial Reporting Informatics and the Impact of Sustainability Accounting in Enhancing It."

The attendees contributed with their questions and remarks, enriching the discussions. The workshop concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to the speakers.
