Assist. Prof. Dr. Ilham Majid Qadir, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Koya University, Dr. Mariwan Zahir, Head of the English Department at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Payman Zorab Aziz, Head of the English Department at the Faculty of Education, participated in the international symposium titled "Interculturality and New Trends in Teaching-Learning English as a Foreign Language Symposium" held in Duhok, Southern Kurdistan.

On October 25, 2024, the symposium was hosted by the University of Duhok in collaboration with the "TESOL Kurdistan" organization. The event aimed to bring together researchers and experts in the field of English language studies on an international level to discuss modern teaching approaches for learning English as a foreign language. It also explored the connection between culture and second language acquisition, as well as its relationship with indigenous languages.

The delegation from Koya University participated in the symposium under the leadership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Ilham Majid Qadir, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Mariwan Zahir, Head of the English Department at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Payman Zorab Aziz, Head of the English Department at the Faculty of Education.

It is worth noting that during the symposium, the Koya University delegation engaged in discussions with the American organization "Pinnacle Teaching Solutions" regarding bilateral academic collaboration and the development of relationships. Additionally, the delegation met with Dr. Marwan Abdi, Director of the "Kurdistan Association of TESOL Educators," to establish connections and organize joint activities to advance the academic staff of Koya University in the field of English language education.
