The Departments of Religious Education in the Faculty of Education and Law, in the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Koya University, organized a workshop titled "Combating Corruption in the Light of Law and Sharia."

On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the Departments of Religious Education in the Faculty of Education and Law Department in the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Koya University conducted a workshop on "Combating Corruption in the Light of Law and Sharia" in the hall of the presidency of Koya University.

The workshop began with the national anthem "Ay Raqib".

Following that, Asst.Prof.Dr. Ilham Majid Qadir, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Koya University, gave an introductory speech, followed by Dr. Twana Jamal Abdulwahid, Head of the Law Department.

The first panel of the workshop was chaired by Dr. Rebwar Jabar Sheikha and featured the following topics:

• "Types of Corruption, Its Causes, and Remedies" by Dr. Rebaz Ardalan Bakar
• "Challenges of Law Enforcement in Combating Corruption" by Dr. Adiba Mohammed Saleh
• "Judicial Reform as a Step in Combating Corruption in the Kurdistan Region" by Dr. Twana Jamal Abdulwahid

The second panel was chaired by Dr. Arzo Nouraldin Rashid, and the following topics were presented:

• "Principles of Combating Financial and Administrative Corruption in Light of the Prophetic Sunnah" by Prof.Dr. Suleiman Saleem Ibrahim
• "The Participation Approach of Imam Omar (PBUH) in Combating Corruption" by Dr. Othman Khidr Hamdamin
• "The Role of Islamic Banks in Combating Financial Corruption – Money Laundering as a Case Study" by Dr. Abdullah Othman Ali

The participants enriched the discussions and raised insightful questions, which made the workshop even more effective. At the end of the workshop, certificates of participation were distributed to the presenters of the topics.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
