The Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Education, Koya University, organized a workshop titled "The Novel and Its Impact on Raising Social Awareness."

The workshop was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, with the participation of university professors and students.

The workshop covered various topics related to Arabic literature, specifically the genre of the novel and its role in raising social awareness. These topics were discussed in a panel session, where several lectures were delivered about the importance of novels in educating the public and increasing social awareness.

The panel leaded by Dr. Azad Abdullah Mohammed, and the following topics were presented:

• "Dialogue in the Novel between Colloquial and Classical Arabic" presented by Dr. Kosar Diler Mahmood.
• "Textual Criticism in the Novel Tamr Al-Asabe' * by Mohsen Ramli" presented by Dr. Sarkawt Goril Ibrahim.
• "The Role of the Novel in Developing Awareness in Readers" presented by Mr. Khomar Salam Bahram.

The questions and observations from the participants enriched the workshop, and at the end of the event, certificates of participation were distributed to the attendees.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
