Koya University Hosts Workshop on the Situation in Syria and Western Kurdistan
On Sunday, April 2, 2025, Koya University held a workshop titled “Changes in Syria and Their Impact on the Region” in the Lecturer Tahir Bakr Hall at the Faculty of Education. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Heshyar Zaki, Vice President for Scientific and Postgraduate Affairs; Prof. Dr. Safin Jalal, Dean of the Faculty of Education; along with university faculty members, students, and invited guests.
The workshop featured a single panel, during which the following topics were presented:
· “Political Changes in Syria and Their Implications” – Dr. Sarbest Nabi
· “The Future of Rojava Amid Regional and Global Challenges” – Lecturer Masoud Abdulkhaleq
· “Historical Dimensions of the Kurdish Issue in Syria” – Dr. Darawan Abdulkader Ahmad
· “Historical and Geographical Barriers to Kurdish Autonomy in Rojava” – Shilan Sharif Rashid
Organized by the Department of History in collaboration with the Central Library, the workshop concluded with a vibrant Q&A session, which enriched the academic dialogue and stimulated constructive discussion among participants.
