As part of Koya University’s concerted efforts to execute its Strategic Plan 2023–2027 and accelerate the Green University Initiative, an official university delegation in the People's Republic of China conducted an inspection visit to a leading enterprise specializing in electric bicycles (e-bikes) and shared smart mobility solutions.
Pillar Seven: Operationalizing Clean Transportation
The site visit directly aligns with Pillar Seven of the Koya University Strategic Plan, particularly Practice One: Clean Transportation, which focuses on pioneering low-carbon, environmentally sustainable transport systems across campus grounds.
Complementing the university’s initiative to introduce an electric bus fleet for mass internal transit, Koya University is actively integrating e-bikes as a nimble, healthy, and eco-friendly mobility option for students, academic faculty, administrative personnel, and university guests.
Technical Evaluation and Initial Collaboration Agreement
During the engagement, the delegation inspected contemporary e-bike models, automated bike-sharing architecture, smart docking and charging terminals, and digital fleet management software. Discussions centered on configuring a customized shared e-bike ecosystem for Koya University to optimize intra-campus transit, decrease automotive traffic and localized carbon emissions, and establish a campus-wide culture of sustainable mobility.
Following detailed technical evaluations, Koya University and the Chinese manufacturer established an initial understanding to facilitate the supply of a fleet of electric bicycles for the campus.
This development serves as another practical milestone in transforming the campus into an operational "Living Laboratory." The simultaneous deployment of electric buses and smart e-bikes will substantially lower emissions, elevate campus mobility efficiency, and reinforce ecological consciousness throughout the university community, affirming Koya University's standing as a leading regional institution in environmental sustainability.
