Conference Launch and Overarching Theme

To advance scientific research and reinforce academic collaboration, the 6th International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering – Iraq (6ICG-IRAQ 2026) officially commences on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, hosted at the University of Baghdad for two consecutive days under the theme "Understanding the Earth, Sustaining the Future."

Institutional Synergy and Co-Organizers

Organized through collaborative coordination among leading academic and professional bodies, the Faculty of Engineering at Koya University co-organizes and supervises the proceedings in partnership with the Iraqi Scientific Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering (ISSMGE), Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, Komar University of Science and Technology, and the Department of Reconstruction and Projects at the University of Baghdad Presidency.

Interdisciplinary Scientific Tracks

The conference convenes scholars and engineering experts across six strategic tracks: geotechnical engineering, structural and civil engineering, sustainability and renewable energy, water resources management, environmental engineering and climate change impacts, as well as modern urban planning and architecture.

Strategic Objectives and Institutional Impact

Serving as a specialized platform for technical exchange and applied engineering breakthroughs, the conference aims to formulate viable solutions to contemporary infrastructure and ecological challenges. Furthermore, this international academic presence directly advances the institutional targets of the Koya University Strategic Plan (2023–2027), particularly within the foundational pillars of "Research and Innovation" and "Community Outreach," underscoring the university's vital contributions to regional scientific and engineering development.
