Sporting Triumph and Premier League Qualification
Through the technical expertise, dedication, and direct engagement of academic staff and students from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Koya University, Koya Sports Club has secured historic promotion to the Iraqi Volleyball Premier League.
Tournament Hosting and Organizational Synergy
This milestone coincided with the execution of the qualification tournament determining promotion from the First Division to the Premier League, hosted in Koya from September 18 to September 24, 2026. Jointly organized by the Iraqi Volleyball Federation and Koya University’s Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, the university provided essential logistical infrastructure and match venues, playing a decisive role in the team's tournament victory.
Academic Leadership and Coaching Staff
The athletic success reflects the strategic leadership and coaching provided by academic professionals and students from Koya University: Prof. Dr. Nabaz Abdullah Fattah (Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and General Supervisor of the volleyball squad), Mr. Mabast Aswad Rasheed (Faculty Lecturer and Head Coach), and Rasty Ali (Fourth-Year Student).
