In today’s world, cancer has a major impact on so many people and families around us which made it almost impossible to find someone who hasn’t had any contact with someone else that was affected by cancer. So, whether we witness the fight of our loved ones directly or we see the worry of their family and friends. Therefore, it’s never too late to educate ourselves by acknowledging the causing factors that could be avoided. For that to be fulfilled, both Biology and Medical Microbiology departments at the Faculty of Science and Health, in collaboration with Ashty health organization held a workshop entitled “The main risk factors of cancer with the most recent statistics.”
This workshop targeted the academic staff at Koya University to raise awareness by tackling the three main risk factors: Genetics, Personal immunity, and environmental. Besides, the laboratory tests that need to be done were explained with the data (registered patients) that was taken from Hiwa Hospital in Sulaimania city for three years were discussed.
The workshop was opened by the speech of the president of Koya University, Prof. Dr. Wali M. Hamad, meanwhile, the Vice President of Koya University for students’ affair, Dr. Qaraman Nadir Mohammed, the Director of Health and Safety Directorate, Mr. Rebwar Tahir Aziz, and the Dean of the FSCH, Asst. Prof. Dr. Taha Jalal Omer attended the workshop.
