The Department of Software Engineering at Koya University will organise an international workshop entitled "First International Workshop on Smart Computing Applications IWSC" on the 18th of May 2022, which will be held in a hybrid environment. The workshop will invite two national and 9 distinguished international speakers; Prof. Elizabeth Munch , Prof. Jana Dittmann, Dr. Eduardo Paluzo Hidalgo, Dr. Alessia Paglialonga, Dr.-Ing. Christian Kraetzer, Dr. Tuan T. Nguyen, Dr. Aras Asaad, Dr. Manuel Soriano Trigueros, Dr. Dhurgham Al-Karawi, Dr. Hadi Veisi, Dr. Halgurd Sarhang and Dr. Abdulbasit Talabani.

Aim and Scope
Smart computing is an important multi-disciplinary area where advanced computational methods and technologies are combined with engineering approaches to create systems, applications, and new services that meet the needs of society. Several and diverse application areas are covered, including business, health care, energy, transportation systems, environment, security, surveillance, industrial systems, information retrieval and publishing, entertainment and creativity, and social activities. In all of these areas, innovation requires both conceiving new applications and services, as well as improving the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of the existing ones.

The focus of the workshop will be on theoretical and research-based experimental components of smart modules based on machine learning and system-oriented techniques for various applications such as NLP, Healthcare, Agriculture, Fake detection, and emotion recognition. These techniques provide solutions to tackle the challenges of the aforementioned applications using smart computing. Therefore, in this workshop, speakers highlight emerging problems in various sectors of smart computing, and share their latest results.
