In honor of this special occasion, the Department of Kurdish Language, Faculty of Education, Koya University, hosted a workshop titled "International Mother Language Day."

On Thursday, February 23, 2023, The Department of Kurdish Language held a workshop titled "International Mother Language Day ", in the presence of the Koya University president, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, vice president for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rostam Salam Aziz, vice president for Scientific and Postgraduate affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Haider Lashkari and Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Safin Jalal. Also, the workshop has been attended by a significant number of students and lecturers to draw attention to the idea that language serves as a key tenet of national identity.

The national anthem "Ay Raqeeb" and a standing ovation to honor the spirits of the Kurdish martyrs opened the workshop.

First, Asst. Prof. Dr. Darya Hawezi, Head of the Kurdish Language Department, gave a statement on behalf of the department.

Afterwards Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, President of Koya University, gave a speech in recognition of International Mother Language Day.

In his remark, Koya University's President emphasized the importance of maintaining and unifying words, spelling, and language standardization over the right to talk, write, and express oneself in one's mother language.

Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq emphasized that the university is the top organization of learning and that the responsibility for educating future generations of the country naturally takes priority over other responsibilities for maintaining culture and language. He added: "As the University Presidency, we support all efforts to preserve and keep alive the language, culture, and identity of our nation."

After a Kurdish song about the International Mother Language Day was performed, the workshop's main panel, which was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulwahid Idris, got to work. Four papers were delivered by the researchers, as follows:

1.Dr.Yara Qadr, Influence of language on private relationships.

2. Asst. Lecturer Qadr Fatah Ahmad, The position of education on Language.

3. Asst. Prof Ismahil Abdulrahman Bazyar, Common language from the perspective of Iranian nationalism.

4. Dr. Paiman Zorab, Educide: The genocide of education.
