Koya University had a special event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its founding and the laying of the cornerstone by the late President Jalal Talabani.

On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in honor of Koya University’s 20th anniversary there was a formal ceremony, in the presence of the Koya University President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, members of the University council, department heads, instructors, and students.

The national anthem "Ay Raqeeb" and a standing ovation marked the beginning of the ceremony, which was held in honor of the late President Jalal Talabani, who founded Koya University, as well as the spirits of other Kurdish victims.

Then Koya University's president, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, made a speech on the occasion of the university's 20th anniversary of its founding. He emphasized the importance of the late President Jalal Talabani in the university's founding and the laying of its cornerstone.

In his remarks, Koya University President emphasized the significance of founding a university in Koya in President Jalal Talabani's ideas and vision and conveyed the significance and care of President Mam Jalal to serve the city of Koya and his university.

Koya University President detailed the visit of the Koya University group to central and southern Iraq during his speech and discussed the university's present local and international stance.

Following that, Engineer Mr. Botan Anwar, Director of Engineering and Projects Directorate, gave a presentation at Koya University on the tasks, endeavors, and projects of the Directorate over the previous year.

The ceremony also included a speech by Dr. Wezha Hawez, head of the department of architectural engineering at the university. She discussed the engineering features of modern buildings in his presentation, focusing on working in an environmentally responsible manner and creating a green university in light of Koya University’s strategic plan, which is one of its primary pillars.

Another aspect of the ceremony involved presenting awards to the programming engineers’ team. It is important to note that the Directorate of Dormitory of Koya University Mr. Rawezh Abdulmajid Hawezi and Mr. Aza Auder received awards for implementing and managing the system, which was developed by a team of programming engineers comprised of Mr. Rebaz Najib, Amir Fazel, Balen Abdulrahman, Aland Khalid, and Alan Nahro.

The ceremony's concluding part was devoted to presenting appreciation to the engineering team and staff members of Koya University's Directorate of Engineering and Projects.
