A Delegation from Tishk International University/ Sulaimani Visited Koya University

The president of Koya University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, as well as some members of the Koya University council, embraced a delegation from Tishk International University Sulaimani during their visit. Prof. Dr. Khidir Masum Khidir headed the delegation.

The president of Tishk International University Sulaimani, Prof. Dr. Khidir Masum Khidir, along with his team, were received by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq President of Koya University on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Dr. Osman Durmaz, Vice President of TIU for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Taylan Budur, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management and Economic Sciences, Lect. Mukhlis Mustafa Younis, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Engineering.

Koya University President began the meeting by congratulating Prof. Dr. Khidir Masum Khidir on his appointment to the position of President of Tishk International University Sulaimani. He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit Koya University and highlighted the university's significant standing in the academic community nationally and internationally.

The visiting delegation was provided with a run-through by Koya University President of the university's Strategic Plan (2023-2027) and main pillars, including membership in Scopus, scientific research promotion, and student preparation for the workforce.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, Koya University President, stated that Koya University is prepared to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Tishk International University Sulaimani. In the context of the meeting, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq presented Prof. Dr. Khidir Masum Khidir, President of Tishk International University Sulaimani, the Koya University’s Strategic Plan.

Following that, the Tishk International University Sulaimani delegation visited Koya University's Faculty of Engineering and General Directorate of Research Centers, where they toured the labs and classrooms.

Both sides' delegations conveyed their eagerness and satisfaction in strengthening their connections to increase their respective influence within the context of cooperative effort.

Koya University (KOU) is located in the city of Koya (Koy Sanjaq) which is 1.0 hr drive to the East of the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil (Arbil, Hewlér) in Kurdistan Region of F.R. Iraq. KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+. KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021). Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
