The Department of Geography, Faculty of Education, Koya University, held a workshop on the investment potential of the “Little Zab” in the fields of tourism and agriculture.
On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in the presence of the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof.Dr. Rezan Saleh Mawlod, Lectures and students, Department of Geography held a workshop on the investment potential of the little Zab.
The workshop was organized under the title of "Development of The Investment Capacity of Tourism and Agriculture of Little Zab", which aimed to discuss and focus on the geo-economic capabilities of "Little Zab" to provide an academic and research perspective to invest and develop this natural resource of Kurdistan, and to develop the tourism and agriculture sectors as two important pillars for the economic development of the country
During the workshop, Asst. Prof.Dr. Yadgar Abdullah Ali led the panel and introduced the Lecturers who presented the topics. Four different topics were presented as follows.
"The dangers of gravel and sand quarries on changing the landscape of the banks of the Little Zab" was presented by Prof.Dr. Ahmad Jalil Ismail.
"The role of tourism on the economy, Little Zab in Koya as an example" was presented by Prof.Dr. Kamran Tahir Saeed and Asst. Lect. Shukur Salam Salim.
"Role of Little Zab in the development of the tourism sector in Koya" was presented by Asst.Lect. Rebin Abdulkhaliq Abdullah.
"Hydro-Geopolitical Challenges on the Little Zab" was presented by Asst.Lect. Ganjo Khasro Mohammed and Asst.Lect. Zhiar Khadr Rasul.
The participants shared their questions and comments on the presented topics, At the end of the workshop, certificates were awarded to the panel leader and the presenters.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.
KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).
Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
