The fourth Local workshop entitled "Application of Mathematics in real life" was held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Rostam Salam Azeez, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kosrat Najad Kaka, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Health, and assistant dean Dr. Jaafar Majid Smail. The workshop was attended by instructors as well as students from Koya University's Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Health.
Two panels were on hand during the workshop, covering a range of subjects related to the interaction between mathematical science and its application in everyday life. These included:
The first panel
-"Analysis for Breast Cancer" was presented by Asst. Lect. Hemn Mohammed Rasul.
-"Walsh-Hadmard Transform Based Image Compression" was presented by Dr. Shadman Rahman Karim.
-"Fibonacci Sequence" was presented by Prof. Dr. Abdulqadir Osman Hamdamin.
The second panel
-"Audio Encryption Using Laplace Transformation '' was presented by Lect. Mardan Amin Pirdawd.
- "Enhancing Students' Understanding of Mathematics by Academic Research" was presented by Dr. Younis Obaid Hussein Sabawi.
- "Prizes of Mathematics" was presented by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shami Hasso.
The academic conversation between the attendees and the presenters was enhanced by participant questions and remarks on the subjects covered by the panels. The presenters received their appreciation certificates at the conclusion of the session.

Moreover, at KOU there is an English Language Center (BELC) at KOU has been opened with the sponsorship of IREX and American embassy in Baghdad as well as with the support of Spring International Language Center of The University of Arkansas. KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.
KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).
Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
