A workshop on "Raising Community awareness of the silent threat of resistant bacteria" was held by the Department of Medical Microbiology at the Faculty of Science and Health in cooperation with the Science and Health Research Center of the Deanship of Research and Development Centers of Koya University.

On Thursday, March 7, 2024, the Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Science and Health at Koya University, held a workshop on "Raising Community awareness of the silent threat of resistant bacteria" in the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, Koya University President, members of the Koya University council, instructors, and students.

The national anthem "Ay Raqib" and a standing ovation honoring the memory of the Kurdish martyrs marked the start of the session. Next, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kosrat Nejad Kaka, the dean of the Faculty of Science and Health, gave a speech to the audience.

Numerous subjects were discussed by the workshop's main panel which was chaired by Lect. Hanaa Ali Muhammad and in his speech at the start of the panel, Asst. Lect. Mohammed Abdulaziz, the coordinator of the Medical Microbiology Department, discussed the threat posed by resistant bacteria and clarified that the department's goal is to increase awareness and have an impact on society as a whole.

The following were the subjects covered at the workshop:

-"Human Natural Immunity and Resistant Bacteria" by Dr. Safia Saber was presented.

-"Spread of immune genes among microorganisms in Kurdistan" was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Srwa Ali.

-"An Introduction to Resistant Bacteria" was presented by Asst. Lect. Mohammed Abdulaziz.

-"The Position of Pharmacists and Drug Users in Reducing the Effects of Resistant Bacteria" by Dr. Zhyar Mustafa was presented.

The participants' comments and remarks about the subjects covered developed profound scientific conversations between the audience and the speakers, which effectively enhanced the workshop. The panel moderators and presenters received certificates of participation at the conclusion of the workshop.
