The Green University Initiative was announced at Koya University by Deputy Prime Minister of the KRG Mr. Qubad Talabani, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, and Koya University President Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hasib Siddiq.
The Deputy Prime Minister, accompanied by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the President of Koya University, saw the green and eco-friendly model of Koya University.
During the activities of the day, Deputy Prime Minister of the KRG Mr. Qubad Talabani, in a press conference announced Koya University as a green university and announced the Green University Support Fund to financially support the project and donated 12 electric buses to the university.
Meanwhile, Koya University's Green University Initiative received a 100-million-dinar support from Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Dr. Aram Mohammed commended Koya university for its efforts in being a green campus, utilizing clean energy for buildings, relying on clean energy for transportation, and being cautious about the environment.
A contribution of 100 million dinars has been offered to support Koya University's efforts to become a green university. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research stated that Koya University was the first university to announce its strategic plan and that such an initiative is anticipated from it.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Qubad Talabani planted a tree in the garden of Koya University Presidency as a symbol of the Green University Initiative. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Koya University President Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hasib Siddiq and members of the university council visited the students' work exhibition within the framework of Green University, entrepreneurship exhibition by companies, futsal match and Final chess Match for students.
