In the Koya University ongoing to enhance excellence across the range of academic practice by developing individuals and championing development provision across the University, an intensive training course was held for its academic staff entitled “academic ethics and integrity”. The course that started on the 19th of May 2020, and last for seven days, was organised by Pedagogy and Academic Development Centre (PADC) in collaboration with the Department of Chemister, Faculty of Science and Health. 

The course was delivered by Dr. Bnar J. Ahmed and focuses on the core principles of academic ethics and integrity through introducing key concepts of research ethics and integrity and providing an overview of the issues the academic staff needs to consider. 

On the 27th of May 2021, the course closing ceremony was held at the University conference hall and attended by course participants and Dr. Haider Lashkry, the vice president for scientific & postgraduate affairs, Dr. Taha Omar, Dean of Faculty of Science and Health, and Mr. Rebaz M. Mustafa, head of the Department of Chemistry.  The ceremony started with a speech from Dr. Haider Lashkry who announce the  establishment of a committee to set out the University code of ethics.

Koya University (KOU) is located in the city of Koya (Koy Sanjaq) which is 1.0 hr drive to the East of the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil (Arbil, Hewlér) in Kurdistan Region of F.R. Iraq. KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UKThe University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) and The University of Greenwich in the UK.
