IOM’s Social Inclusion Training Project at Koya University

In cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Directorate of Career Services at Koya University conducted a 5-day training project (13-17 June 2021) on social and disability inclusion for 15 Syrian Refugees and unemployed graduates in Koya District. The programme is funded by Australian Aid Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented by IOM. On 17th June, Asst. Prof. Dr. Haidar Lashkry distributed the certificates of attendance on the participants and thanked the IOM team for their great engagement towards helping disadvantaged youth.

Koya University Held a Training Course on ‘Some Medical Laboratory Equipment’

As part of its Continuous Improvement Programme, The Faculty of Health and Science at Koya University has once again held an intensive training course for its academic staff, titled "Some Medical Laboratory Equipment". The training course was organised by the Biology and Medical Microbiology Departments, Faculty of Science and Health, from 8th to 17th June 2021 at the University's Presidential Hall and FSCH Genetics Research Centre. 

Koya University Participated the Ministerial Meeting about Implementing Bologna Process

On 16th June 2021, Koya University participated the meeting that held in the ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Reasrach in Kurdistan Region to discuss the implementation of Bologna Process in all Kurdistan Universities. The meeting was head by Dr. Amanj Saeed (Colsultant at the ministry), Dr. Mohammed Hussein Ahmed (D.G. at the Ministry) and Dr. Hawkar Arab (Head of QA office at the ministry).

KOU a Partner Organizer of Peacebuilding and Genocide Prevention International Conference

Under the slogan "Memory of the Genocide from Anfal and marshlands to Halbja and Sinjar", Koya University participates as a co-organizer in the international conference "of Peacebuilding and Genocide Prevention" that chaired by UNESCO and will be held in the University of Human Development, Sulaimani, on 15-16 December, 2021.

KOU Held a Training Course on Academic Ethics and Integrity

In the Koya University ongoing to enhance excellence across the range of academic practice by developing individuals and championing development provision across the University, an intensive training course was held for its academic staff entitled “academic ethics and integrity”. The course that started on the 19th of May 2020, and last for seven days, was organised by Pedagogy and Academic Development Centre (PADC) in collaboration with the Department of Chemister, Faculty of Science and Health. 

Koya University Participated the Annual International Conference on Education and Teaching (ICET)

With the purpose of promoting education and contributing to the development of the schools and teachers’ professional development in Iraq and KRG, an international conference on education & teaching in K-12 schools (ICET) was organised by Stirling Schools, Cambridge University Press, City & Guilds, and GEMS. This year’s ICET theme was “Empowering Education & Classroom Experience in the Post-covid World.”

ICET, which continued for two days, 17th and 18th of May 2021, brought together teacher trainers, educational experts and community leaders from the national and the international community to discuss their perspectives on certain issues related to education.

Dr. Wali Hamad, the president of Koya University, represented the university and attended the ICET opening ceremony at the VIP Reception Venue in the Rotana Hotel/Erbil.

 

KOU Published 338 Research Papers and Collected more than 1,035 Citations with WoS (Clarivate Analytics), Latest Report Says

According to the latest report that released by Incite: WoS (Clarivate Analitics), Koya University showed more than 338 published research papers till 31st March 2021. Moreover, Koya University could collect more than 1,035 citations: 57.1% cited documents. The report shows (5) Highly Cited in Field and (‎1) Hot paper in Field.

KOU Got More than £400,000 of the Year 2021 Annual Grant of the British Academy

Koya University, in cooperation with the Ulster University in Northern Ireland and the University of Sharjah in the UAE, received the annual grant of the British Academy, which is worth more than £400,000British Academy is a registered charity in England and Wales (charity number 233176). It has one wholly-owned trading subsidiary (Clio Enterprises Limited, company number 07595846).

In the Context of the Headway Program, The Directorate of Career Development Launches a Website for each UNDP-Funded Startup

Under the umbrella of the UNDP/UN-Habitat joint action Headway ProgrammeCareer Development Directorate at Koya University, with support of Rwanga Foundation in consortium with Erbil Governorate proposed the Entrepreneurship Development Programme, implemented the programme inside Koya University campus between 28. Oct. 2020 – 28. Feb. 2021, and provided financial support for 20 businesses.

The DENL at KOU Held it's First on-Campus National Students' Workshop

On 22nd of April, 2021, the Department of English Language (DENL), Faculty of Education, Koya University, held the first on-campus national students' workshop in the academic year 2020-2021. The workshop was held under the title: The Representation of Trauma in the Holocaust and post 9/11 Literature.
