Koya University Students at University of Minho
Marhaba Project (Erasmus Mundus) sends four Koya University students from Faculty of Engineering (FENG) to University of Minho Portugal to study for one academic year in the field of manufacturing engineering. Koya University is representing the Kurdistan Region; Rekan Sherif, Dana Ghafar, Shivan Hakim and Shangar Mohemmed are the four students from Koya University who were able to win a one-year scholarship to study at University of Minho/Portugal via Marhaba Project.

The British Small Media Academic Institute Project
Mr. Hiwa Salam, an instructor at the Kurdish department of Koya University participates in a research project of the British Small Media Academic Institute, which is about the oppressed ethnic minorities of the Iranian community. A new research work was published by our researcher
A research work was published by Koya University Researcher, Dr. Fahmi Fariq, Head of Department of Physics and Lecturer at the Faculty of Science and Health under the title ‘’Impedance spectroscopy analysis of DH6T:PCBM bulk heterojunction incorporating Gaq3: Experiment and model ‘’. The paper is published in the Journal of Material Science; Materials in Electronics, a peer reviewed journal which is disseminated by Springer. The journal has an impact factor of 1.569 currently.

Koya University lecturers at TTP of ASU
The Teacher Training Program (TTP) at the Arizona State University (ASU) is an internationally renowned and award winning program for lecturers in English Language teaching. This academic year (2014/2015) two lecturers from Koya University, Mr Hawkar Akram Awla and Mr Mustsafa Wshyar Abdulla, assistant lecturers in the Department of English, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences were awarded a fully-funded scholarships for joining the TTP of the Arizona State University (ASU). The program is sponsored by the US Embassy- Baghdad and Arizona State University and lasts for 47 days starting from June 13, 2015 and ending on July 31, 2015.

The first Koya University Erasmus Marhaba Awardee has departed
The Koya University was selected as one of the four universities from Kurdistan Region of Iraq to join the European Union Erasmus Program, Marhaba Project. This academic year Koya University managed to have 6 fully funded awardees in Marhaba Project. This includes 4 undergraduate 2nd years students for a full academic year from Faculty of Engineering (FENG), Department of Manufacturing and Industerial Engineering (DMIE) and one Postdoctoral exchange for 6 months, and one Academic staff exchange for one month. Koya University proudly embraced this opportunity and managed become a leading institute in the region.

Koya University on an official visit to the UoA
The KRG universities are crossing the borders of Kurdistan Region to further engage with the process of internationalization in higher education. In line with the new strategy in the Kurdistan Region, on 3/6/2015, a delegation from Koya University started their 6-day trip on an official visit to the University of Arkansas in the USA.

The President of Iraq at Koya University
The President of Federal Republic of Iraq Dr Fuad Massoum visited the city of Koya on Saturday afternoon 13/6/2015. His excellency held a public meeting at the Koya University Grand Auditorium Hall (GAH). The audience included the university and institute instructors, directors of the different offices and departments, religious scholars and the representatives of the civil society, women and youth organizations.

University of Arkansas and Koya University Signs MoU
A delegation from Koya university visited the University of Arkansas between 3-9th of June 2015. The delegation was officially invited to sign a MoU for further cooperation and knowledge exchange. The University of Arkansas has made press release on this event as follows, "The University of Arkansas has signed a cooperative agreement with the Koya University in Koya, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. It is the fifth agreement the U of A has signed with an Iraqi university in the past year.
