A workshop about “The Role of AI in Everyday Life” was hosted at Koya University
On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the Deanship of Research and Development Centers at Koya University held a workshop titled “AI in All Aspects of People’s Lives.” The event was attended by the President of Koya University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, the dean of the Deanship of Research and Development, Asst. Prof. Dr. Halgurd Sarhang, and the Vice President for Student Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Azhin Tahir.
The workshop began with a speech by Asst. Prof. Dr. Halgurd Sarhang, Dean of the Deanship of Research and Development, who highlighted the importance of organizing such a workshop to clarify the role of artificial intelligence in people’s lives and raise awareness about its uses.
In addition, the workshop featured a main panel that covered several topics related to artificial intelligence, including “AI in Healthcare,” presented by Dr. Sarkawt Dzaay; “AI in Business,” presented by Dr. Hemn Ibrahim; and “AI in Marketing,” presented by Lecturer Fuaad Zada.
Koya University reinforces the main pillar of its strategic plan, “Research and Innovation,” aiming to support both local and global communities in solving real-life problems through education. As part of the “Enhance Research Collaboration” strategy, the university offers training courses, workshops, and seminars for researchers to boost research productivity, with a strong focus on innovation and enterprise development.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.
KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).
Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
