Emphasis on Digital Transformation Importance

At the opening of the meeting, President of Koya University Prof. Dr. Mohammed H.S. Zangana expressed his great satisfaction with holding this strategic and vital meeting with the "DIGITIZATION" pillar implementation committee, emphasizing the central and fundamental role this committee plays in implementing one of the most important pillars of the university's strategic plan.

The university president stressed that Koya University, as a pioneering and advanced academic institution in the Kurdistan Region, was among the first universities to initiate the announcement of a comprehensive and ambitious five-year strategic plan. He noted that the real challenge lies not merely in announcing the plan, but in the effective and precise implementation of its various pillars and objectives.

Smart Campus Initiative

The university president detailed the ambitious goals and strategies of the "DIGITIZATION" pillar in the strategic plan, highlighting the pioneering initiative to transform Koya University campus into a smart and technologically advanced university campus. This transformation is being achieved through a strategic partnership with the global technology and communications company Huawei, with direct and official support from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region.

He explained that this initiative aims to implement the latest digital technologies in all aspects of university life, from administrative and academic operations to services provided to students and faculty members.

Committee's Commitment to Implementation

For his part, the head of the "DIGITIZATION" pillar implementation committee and Vice President for Student Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Azhin Tahir Saber, expressed deep gratitude and appreciation to the university president for his continuous and ongoing support for the efforts to implement the strategic plan pillars, particularly the vital digitalization pillar.

Comprehensive Strategic Plan

It is worth noting that Koya University, as a pioneering and advanced academic institution in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, officially announced in September 2023 a comprehensive and ambitious strategic plan spanning five years (2023-2027).

This plan consists of seven fundamental and pivotal pillars covering all aspects of university work, including: STUDENT SUCCESS AND EMPLOYABILITY, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION , COMMUNITY OUTREACH, RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT, INTERNATIONALIZATION AND GLOBAL VISIBILITY , DIGITIZATION (which receives special attention due to its importance in the modern technology era), and finally the GREEN UNIVERSITY pillar,

The "DIGITIZATION" pillar includes four main and interconnected strategic objectives, planned to be achieved through the implementation of 18 specialized and specific strategies. These include digitizing administrative and academic processes, developing technical infrastructure, enhancing digital skills for faculty members and students, and establishing advanced electronic educational platforms.
