Koya University researchers Actively Participate in the 10th International Conference on "The Kurdish Traditional Madrasas in the Modern and Contemporary Era"

A group of prominent academic staff from Koya University demonstrated significant scholarly participation in the 10th International Conference titled "The Kurdish Traditional Madrasas in the Modern and Contemporary Era." The conference was organized by the Zakho Center for Kurdish Studies at the University of Zakho in collaboration with Sirnak University, held on April 21-22, 2026.

The delegation from Koya University included Prof. Dr. Haidar Lashkry, Prof. Dr. Jawad Faqi, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rizgar Omer Fattah, Asst. Prof. Dr. Zana Tayfour Abdulsamad, and Asst. Lecturer Soran Hussein Ibrahim.

Research and Innovation:

This pillar aims to foster a conducive research environment that encourages the academic capabilities of the university's faculty. During the conference, the researchers presented various papers covering language, history, and education:

  • "Kurdish Cultural Mediation in Border Society Contexts" by Prof. Dr. Haidar Lashkry.
  • "The Jalizadeh Family and its Two Scientific Schools in Koya (A Historical-Analytical Study)" by Asst. Prof. Dr. Zana Tayfour and Prof. Dr. Jawad Faqi.
  • "The Role and Impact of Kurdish Hujras and Scholars in Developing Literary and Cultural Fields (South Kurdistan as a Model)" by Asst. Prof. Dr. Rizgar Omer Fattah.
  • "Non-Governmental Education in the City of Sulaymaniyah" by Asst. Lecturer Soran Hussein Ibrahim.
