The 18th graduation ceremony of Koya University was held in the hall of the Faculty of physical Education of Koya University.

President Of Koya University, Prof. Mohammed Hasib Siddiq delivered a speech on this occasion.

President Of Koya University Prof. Mohammed Hasib Siddiq welcomed the guests of the graduation ceremony including the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Presidents of universities and general directors, administrative, party and social figures Koya city and foreign and domestic guests, teachers, graduates and their families pointed out his belief as the Presidency of Koya University in the importance of having a strategic plan for universities to play a better role in improving society.

President of Koya University, Prof. Mohammed Hasib Siddiq, spoke about the pillars of the strategic plan of Koya University and said: “Our university has made student success and prepared them for the labor market as the first pillar of the plan Because we believe that students in Koya University must be prepared in such a way in terms of personal ability, skills and scientific ability to make their place in the labor market and succeed in the competition to get a job.”

In another part of his speech, the president of Koya University pointed to the steps of Koya University in the field of international and domestic relations and appreciated the role of Koya University in this field. He said We always believe that international relations are as important as local relations with Kurdistan and Iraqi universities. In this context, in February this year, a memorandum of understanding was signed at Koya University Reaching between seven universities The agreement was signed under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which provided a good basis for further coordination between these universities, especially in the field of higher education.

This year we also signed memorandums of understanding with a significant universities outside the Kurdistan Region in Iraq, including the University of Technology in Baghdad and the University of Basra, which will conduct joint scientific activities, for example, holding an international conference on waste management in the oil and gas industry in April 2024 in partnership between Koya University, Basra University, Missouri University of Science - US, and Technology and President Jalal Talabani Foundation. 

Another part of the speech was about the efforts of Koya University to provide and create a favorable learning environment for students and said to provide a favorable environment for learning in our university, with our colleagues despite the financial crisis, our efforts continue We are pleased that this year we were able to renovate the halls and laboratories of our university and provide the necessary equipment for the educational process and the construction of new buildings.

The 18th graduation ceremony of Koya University was held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 with the participation and presence of guests from high levels of government, academic, party and administrative.

Koya University (KOU) is located in the city of Koya (Koy Sanjaq) which is 1.0 hr drive to the East of the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil (Arbil, Hewlér) in Kurdistan Region of F.R. Iraq. KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
