In comparison to the previous ranking, Koya University has raised the number of citations in Google Scholar by gaining (13,906) citations.

In line with the TRANSPARENT RANKING JULY 2024 (version 18.0.0) published by Webometrics, Koya University has seen an increase in citations in Google Scholar.

In July 2024, Koya University's citation count increased to 13,906 according to the most recent ranking. In January of the same year, the number of citations was 11,244 according to the ranking.

In the meantime, the number of citations has tripled over the previous two years and ascended by 9,360 when compared to the 4,546 citations in the December 2022 version.

In September 2023, Koya University, the first university in the Kurdistan Region, held a special ceremony to announce its five-year strategic plan. The plan's second pillar, "research and innovation," calls for increased focus on research and an increased number of researchers to conduct scientific research.
