International Workshop "Heritage Preservation" Held at the College of Engineering, Koya University

The international workshop, "Heritage Preservation" was organized in collaboration with Koya University, Basrah University, the World Heritage Fund, and the Heritage Administration of Koya.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the "Heritage Preservation" workshop took place at the College of Engineering, Koya University, in partnership with Koya University, Basrah University, the World Heritage Fund, and the Heritage Administration of Koya.

The workshop began with a speech by the Dean of the College of Engineering at Koya University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Galawêzh Bakir Bapir highlighted the objectives and significance of the event.

The sessions covered a variety of topics related to heritage and its preservation, including:

1. "Archeology: Past, Now, and Future", presented by Kaifi Mustafa, Director General of Heritage Administration in the Kurdistan Region.
2. "The International Charters for the Preservation and Restoration of Historical Monuments and Sites", presented by Muwafaq Al-Taie.
3. "The Children’s Interpretation Center at the Erbil Citadel", presented by Alessandra Perusito from the World Heritage Fund, along with Ahmed Zand and Sakar Dler.
4. "Archaeological Aspect in the Restoration of Monuments: The Case of Mosul Churches", presented by Karol Novasek from Palacký University, Czech Republic.
5. "Heritage: An Eye on Tomorrow", presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahar Al-Qaisi.
6. "Virtual Heritage and Its Role in Reviving Heritage Areas: An Applied Study of the Areas of Basra City (Late Ottoman Period Until 1917)", presented by Armin Markarian from Basrah University.
7. "The Impact of Intangible Heritage on Tourism Development", presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Shaima Al-Kubaisi.
8. "The Heritage House of Malay Gawre and its Renovation Project", presented by Hemin N. Kawis from the Heritage Administration of Koya.
9. "The Characteristics of Urban and Social Heritage of Zubair City", presented by Farah Ahmed Tayeb from Basrah University.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to the attendees and presenters.
