On Sunday, April 27, 2025, the Department of History at the Faculty of Education, Koya University, held a workshop titled “The Impact of Women on Governance Throughout History.” The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Hishyar Zaki, Vice President for Scientific and Postgraduate Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Safeen Jalal, Dean of the Faculty of Education.
Moderated by Dr. Amanj Salam Hamadamin, the panel featured the following presentations:
· “The Political Role of Women in the First and Second Abbasid Eras (Al-Sayyida, Shaghab as Examples)” – Asst. Prof. Dr. Hoshmand Ali
· “The Role of Shajar al-Durr in Governance” – Dr. Zardasht Dlshad
· “The Role of Kurdish Women in Governance (Adela Khanem as an Example)” – Asst. Prof. Dr. Zana Taifohad
· “The Influence of Iranian Women on Governance” – Asst. Lect. Kwestan Ahmad
The workshop highlighted the significant roles women have played in political leadership across various cultures and historical periods, particularly emphasizing the central role of Kurdish women. Koya University continues to promote diverse historical perspectives through such academic forums.
