Koya University Launches Service Staff Training on Work Ethics and Safety
Koya University has organized a two-day training course for its service staff as part of its strategic plan's "Resource Development" pillar. The course, titled "How to Better Provide Services and Work Ethics and Safety," aims to enhance the skills and professionalism of the university's personnel.
The training officially began on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the university presidency. The opening session was attended by Koya University President, Prof. Dr. Mohammed H.S. Zangana, and the Vice President for Financial and Administrative Affairs and Chairman of the Resource Development Pillar Implementation Committee, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yadgar Abdullah Ali.
Commitment to Human Resource Development
In his opening remarks, President Zangana underscored the significance of human resources within the university's strategic vision. He stated that "Resource Development" is a crucial pillar and affirmed the university's commitment to continuously organizing training and development courses for all staff categories. He also extended his gratitude to the implementation committee and the course instructors.
The comprehensive two-day program was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nazira Saber Mustafa and Dr. Haja Taha Mohammad.
Certificates Awarded to Participants
The course concluded on its second and final day with a certificate distribution ceremony. Asst. Prof. Dr. Yadgar Abdullah Ali presented participation certificates to all staff who successfully completed the training, as well as to the instructors for their valuable contribution.
Strategic Framework
Koya University, as a leading institution in the academic field in Kurdistan, has an updated and contemporary strategic plan, a plan consisting of seven main pillars that responds to new developments in society. The fourth main pillar, the "RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT" pillar, within the framework of the first objective "Improve Human Resources and Management Staff Performance and Efficiency" and the first strategy "Improving the performance of academic, management staff, and senior managers," works to provide a university training program for university employees.

Koya University (KOU) is located in the city of Koya (Koy Sanjaq) which is 1.0 hr drive to the East of the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil (Arbil, Hewlér) in Kurdistan Region of F.R. Iraq. Also, there are two research centers; Genome Center and Malai Gawra Center. Moreover, at KOU there is an English Language Center (BELC) at KOU has been opened with the sponsorship of IREX and American embassy in Baghdad as well as with the support of Spring International Language Center of The University of Arkansas. KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.
KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).
Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
