Koya University Ranks First Regionally in Teaching Category in 'THE Arab Ranking 2026'

Koya University has achieved a significant academic milestone by securing First Place among all public and private universities in the Kurdistan Region in the Teaching category, according to the latest edition of the Times Higher Education Arab University Ranking (THE Arab Ranking 2026). On a national level, the ranking confirmed the university’s advanced position by classifying it as one of the top three Iraqi universities in this vital area.

This high ranking is determined based on a meticulous evaluation of several crucial criteria, including: providing a suitable environment for learning, the strength of the university's academic reputation, the academic staff-to-student ratio, the proportion of Ph.D. holders among faculty members, and the financial support allocated for developing faculty lecture capabilities and providing teaching requirements. This achievement is considered proof of the university's successful implementation of its Strategic Plan, particularly the first pillar, which focuses on fostering a suitable learning environment, enhancing educational programs, and improving the university's academic reputation.

In addition to the first-place rank in Teaching, Koya University achieved favorable results in the overall THE Arab Ranking 2026, securing Second Place among public universities in the Kurdistan Region in the overall total score, and placing in the 176-200 group among universities in the Arab World.

On the occasion of this distinction, the university administration affirms its position as one of the best places for learning in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, extending warm congratulations to all faculty, staff, students, and the entire university community for this outstanding academic achievement.
