For the Second Year, Koya University Announces the "Zanko Award" for Best Student Projects in Environment and Sustainability 2026
Koya University is proud to announce the 2026 round of the "Zanko Award for the Best Student Project in Environmental Protection and Sustainability." This initiative is a significant step under the "Green University" and "Student Success and Employability" pillars of Koya University's Strategic Plan (2023-2027), aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The award aims to nurture student talents and inspire them to work toward environmental preservation. A total of 18 prizes will be awarded to the best projects in the following categories:
- Renewable Energy and Clean Technology.
- Pollution Reduction and Waste Management.
- Climate Change Adaptation, Agriculture, and Food Security.
- Environmental Awareness and Education (e.g., short videos or other media).
- Green Infrastructure, Urban Planning, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
💰 Award Prizes (At the College Level):
- First Prize: 500,000 IQD.
- Second Prize: 250,000 IQD.
- Third Prize: 100,000 IQD.

Evaluation Process: A specialized committee will conduct an initial screening, with results announced within one week. Approved projects will then be submitted in their final form to college committees for final evaluation. Successful projects will be exhibited and awarded during an official university ceremony.
