Koya University Hosts Workshop on Scientific Research Challenges and Global Standards

The Malay Gawra Center, at the Deanship of Research and Development Centers at Koya University, organized a specialized workshop titled "Challenges of Scientific Research: Steps Toward Global Research Standards" on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. 

The event, held at the University Presidency Hall, was attended by the President of Koya University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed H.S. Zangana, the Dean of the Deanship of Research and Development Centers, Asst. Prof. Dr. Helgurd Sarhang Maghdid, members of the University Council, researchers, faculty, and students.

This workshop was organized as part of Koya University’s updated vision to enhance academic research capabilities, aligning with the second pillar of its Strategic Plan: "Research and Innovation."

 The session began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs of Kurdistan, followed by a speech from President Prof. Dr. Mohammed H.S. Zangana. In his remarks, the President detailed the university's achievements in the research sector, presenting statistics on academic publications by faculty members and emphasizing the critical importance of research quality in meeting international benchmarks to maintain Koya University’s status as a trusted and vibrant institution.

The program included an introductory video about the Malay Gawra Center and a speech by its director, Professor Dr. Nali Jawad, followed by two intensive discussion sessions. 

The first session featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Bakhtiar Omar Fattah, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aseel Asaad Shamsaddin, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Talar Sabah Omar. 

The second session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Hoshmand Ali Mahmood, Asst. Lect. Basidah Haider Anwar, and Asst. Lect. Khalil Ibrahim Abdullah. The workshop concluded with the presentation of certificates to the speakers.

As a dynamic academic institution, Koya University dedicates the second pillar of its comprehensive strategic plan to "Research and Innovation." Through this, it aims to empower researchers and faculty to reach levels of scientific excellence that serve the local community while fulfilling global standards, ensuring its prestige as a highly reputable academic center.
