Three Academics from Koya University Participate in Garmian University’s 7th International Conference

Three Lecturers from the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Education, Koya University; Prof. Dr. Luqman Waasu Omer, Asst. Prof. Dr. Peshraw Samad Tawfiq, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Samad Abdullah Salih—participated in the 7th International Scientific Conference organized by Garmian University. The delegation’s participation contributed significantly to the conference's scientific sessions through specialized research presentations and session management.

Prof. Dr. Luqman Waasu served as a keynote speaker, presenting a paper on "Global Environmental Problems and Their Environmental Reflections on the Garmian Administration." Additionally, Asst. Prof. Dr. Samad Abdullah Salih presented a research paper titled "The Impact of Rainfall Variation on Groundwater Levels in the Aghjameshät and Khidir Wali Basins." Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Dr. Peshraw Samad Tawfiq chaired one of the main discussion panels of the conference.

This active participation aligns with Koya University's comprehensive Strategic Plan, which identifies seven core pillars as a roadmap to achieving its goals as a leading academic and educational institution. These activities fall under the second pillar, "Research and Innovation," specifically targeting the second objective: "Increasing research opportunities for academic staff and students," and the fourth strategy related to managing and attending conferences and symposiums.

These contributions at the Garmian University conference reflect the university's commitment to supporting scientific research and addressing pressing environmental and geographical issues that serve the Kurdistan Region.
