Koya University’s ARO Journal Achieves Highest SJR Ranking Among Kurdistan Region Journals
Koya University’s Journal of Science and Technology (ARO) has achieved a significant academic milestone by securing the highest ranking in the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR = 0.311) among all academic journals in the Kurdistan Region. The SJR is a prestigious scientific metric used to determine the status and influence of academic journals; it calculates not only the number of citations but also the prestige and weight of the citing journals, giving more value to citations from highly-reputed sources.
Regarding journal quartiles, ARO is ranked in the third quartile (Q3) specifically in the fields of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Chemical Engineering. As of April 5, 2026, the journal holds an h-index of 12 and a CiteScore of 3, demonstrating its consistent academic impact and the high quality of its published research.
Notably, ARO remains the only journal in the Kurdistan Region indexed by Clarivate with a recognized Impact Factor of 2.1 according to the latest Web of Science (WoS) release.
