Koya University President Receives Advisor to the KRG Deputy Prime Minister for Culture Affairs
The President of Koya University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed H.S. Zangana, received the Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for Artistic Affairs, Mr. Nejat Abdullah, and an accompanying delegation, including the head of the Kurdish Heritage Revival Organization, Mr. Irfan Othman Ahmed.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Koya University Presidency. It was attended by the Vice Presidents for Administrative and Scientific Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yadgar Abdullah Ali and Prof. Dr. Hashiar Zaki, along with the Secretary of the University Council and directors of the Central Library and Media.
Visit Highlights: Digitizing the Manuscripts of "Mala-y Gawra"
Part of the visit was dedicated to inspecting the Central Library of Koya University. The delegation viewed the manuscripts of the renowned scholar "Malay Gawra," which had been previously digitized by the Kurdish Heritage Revival Organization. These manuscripts are set to be unveiled in a special ceremony to serve as a rich primary source for researchers and students.
Strong Institutional Relations and Digital Transformation
Based on its comprehensive Strategic Plan, Koya University aims to build robust partnerships with governmental and non-governmental entities. This meeting provided an opportunity to evaluate joint efforts in digitizing the University’s Central Library, a project that aligns perfectly with the "Digitization" pillar of Koya University’s Strategic Plan. The collaboration focuses on identifying and digitizing rare manuscripts to preserve them for future generations.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Community Service
The two sides discussed signing a Memorandum of Understanding between Koya University and the Kurdish Heritage Revival Organization. This initiative falls under the third pillar of the University’s Strategic Plan, "Community Outreach," emphasizing the university's role in enriching and preserving Kurdish cultural heritage at local and regional levels.
