Presidential Recognition for Academic Distinction
In a special assembly attended by the members of the University Council, the President of Koya University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed H.S. Zangana, honored five distinguished faculty members who achieved exceptional scientific innovations and patents.
The Ceremony and Profiles of Honored Innovators
The meeting took place on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Mohammed H.S. Zangana presented Koya University’s awards of appreciation to the following innovative scholars: Prof. Dr. Payman Subhi Ahmad from the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Hanan Tariq Subhi from the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Science and Health; Asst. Prof. Dr. Salam Ghafur Taher from the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science and Health; Asst. Prof. Dr. Hani Khalil Ismail from the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science and Health; and Dr. Shilan Samin Hamid from the Department of Software Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering.
Research and High-Impact Innovation as a Strategic Vision
This academic milestone operates within the framework of Koya University’s comprehensive 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, which aims to maximize the institution's scientific impact and community service. The second pillar of the strategic plan, titled "Research and Innovation," focuses specifically on incentivizing university researchers. Highlighting this core value, the President commended the outstanding achievements of the honored professors, emphasizing that their patents reflect the steady qualitative growth of the academic process at Koya University.
Institutional Support and Future Development Plans
During the meeting, the President emphasized the significance of collaborative institutional effort in attaining high-level scientific achievements. He stated that encouraging faculty members and researchers to secure scientific innovations remains a top priority and an enduring responsibility of the Koya University Presidency. To further accelerate this progress, he proposed fostering teamwork to increase the volume of university patents and recommended organizing specialized university-wide workshops to familiarize researchers with the legal and technical methodologies of registering international and domestic innovations.
